Within this arc tube, an inert mercury gas is contained.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> When an electrical charge is supplied to the arc tube, it excites the mercury gas and releases ultraviolet (UV) radiation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> When the UV radiation interacts with the fluorescent coating, it creates light. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Standard linear fluorescent lights are typically available in tubes that measure 48- to 84 inches in length.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CFL: A Compact Variant<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While modern technology has created subsets of fluorescent lighting,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> it is not uncommon for users to mistake CFLs for linear fluorescent lights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> CFL, which stands for Compact Fluorescent Light, are smaller versions of the standard fluorescent lighting we are talking about.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> While CFLs are available in linear shapes, they are more commonly coiled in appearance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LED vs. Fluorescent Tubes Cost Savings<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When it comes to retrofitting an older system or installing a new one, cost savings is often one of the biggest factors. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When talking about lighting installations, the overall cost impacts<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> need to take into account the overall energy consumption costs as well as those related to maintenance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Let\u2019s take a closer look at how LED vs. fluorescent tubes stack up when it comes to cost savings.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Energy Savings<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have noted that florescent lights are considered more efficient than incandescent bulbs. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, nothing beats the energy savings when it comes to an LED. Additionally, fluorescent lights need time to warm up. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While today\u2019s technology has led to the development of florescent bulbs that warm up rapidly,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> they still suffer from a delay in reaching maximum illumination.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> LEDs reach full illumination immediately, <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">meaning energy is not wasted on bringing the lamp up to the required temperature <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to produce mercury gas-based UV radiation. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Because lighting accounts for almost 40% of your entire power bill, <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">every second you can cut down on powering light fixtures means money you save. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Based on the direction, loss of heat, and reflection reductions \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LED lights provide almost 70% more light when supplied with the same amount of energy as a fluorescent tube.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-53114\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gahzly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Intellitube.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"972\" height=\"618\" title=\"l\">Maintenance Savings<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When it comes to linear LED vs linear fluorescent lamp maintenance, LEDs again take the lead. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fluorescent tubes typically last between 3 and 5 years. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, because the internal ballast is rather fragile,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> should that component be damaged in any way, the lamp will no longer work.
