Connect the test leads across the component being tested.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Ensure that the connection between the test leads and the circuit is good.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong class=\"x-el x-el-span c2-2w c2-2x c2-3 c2-5k c2-1f c2-1c c2-5l\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Tip:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"> \u00a0\u00a0For very low resistance measurements, use the relative mode (REL; see point 11). <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">It may also be referred to as zero or delta (\u0394) mode. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">It automatically subtracts the test lead resistance &#8211; typically 0.2 \u03a9 to 0.5 \u03a9. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Ideally, if the test leads touch (short together), the display should show 0 \u03a9.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Other factors that can affect resistance readings: foreign matter (dirt, solder flux, oil), body contact with the metal terminals of the test wires, or parallel circuit paths. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">The human body becomes a parallel resistance path, which reduces the overall circuit resistance. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Thus, avoiding touching the metal parts of the test leads to avoiding errors.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">6. Read the measurement on the screen. <\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">7.
