It is made of a flexible material that adapts to any surface. <\/span>Depending on the model, they come with 30, 60, or 120 LEDs per meter. <\/span>It contains SMD (Surface Mount) LEDs, located equidistant along the strip.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Although all types have many uses, there are specific LED strips for each space. <\/span>Some strips are exclusively for indoor use, others come with IP65 protection for outdoors (dust and moisture).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It comes with self-adhesive tape along the entire length of the tape making it extremely easy to install., especially under countertops, cabinets, staircases, signs, shop windows, storefronts, bars, bowling alleys and hotel spaces.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

  1. 1. Get to know the space<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The first thing to look at is where you are going to install the LED strip. <\/span>You need to measure the deck to calculate the cuts. If the deck is 93cm long, you can cut a section of 90 or 95 (remember that the cuts must be multiples of 5cm!).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Cut the pieces<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Cut the tape along the marked line every 5 centimeters. <\/span>You can use any scissors. <\/span>Attention: If the tape is cut beyond the 5 cm cut line, the cut section will not work and cannot be reused.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

      1. Transformer preparation<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        When the length of the LED strip is known, the transformer needed to power it can be calculated. <\/span>Generally, the strips go to 12 volts, and the adapter allows them to be plugged into a 220 volt socket. <\/span>The transformer should always be 12 volts, and we recommend a switch-source-type transformer that resists changes in voltage.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

        Regarding the electric current, it can be calculated considering how much the strip consumption is per meter. For example, if we want to install two meters of SMD LED strip, the consumption is 0.4A per meter, which is equivalent to 400 milliamps (mA), so we need a source 1 amp. <\/span>Although the consumption is 0.8A, it is always recommended to leave a margin of at least 20% to avoid the source being required to the limit.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

        1. Tape and adapter connection<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Connect the LED strip to the adapter using the pre-made connectors. <\/span>You can also solder the source wires with a tin soldering iron and electricity up to 40 watts. <\/span>If this is your option, strip the wires from the end of the switch and solder them to the tracks on the end of the strip. <\/span>Important: The positive cable of the source must be soldered to the positive path of the tape (as is the negative).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

          If the strip is RGB, it is necessary to have an “RGB controller”, which allows mixing colors. <\/span>In this case, the source is connected to the console, and its four cables are soldered to the RGB strip tracks. <\/span>Each wire has a color and each path has a letter. <\/span>The red wire should go to track R, green should go to G, blue to B and black to the common positive of the strip.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

          1. Run test<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Once you’ve made the cuts and soldered the clips–and connected to the controller, if that’s your case–, do a test run to check the connection. <\/span>The power supply should be the last thing you plug in, because even though the voltage is low in the system and there are no electrical hazards, it could damage the system.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

            1. Surface cleaning<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              Before applying the tape, it is important to clean the surface where it will be attached. <\/span>The LED strip comes with self-adhesive material on the back, and sticks to almost any surface: plastic, wood, metal, acrylic, cardboard, glass, wall, doorlock and stone, among others. <\/span>The surface must be clean in order for the adhesion to be more durable. <\/span>They can be cleaned with a damp cloth making sure they are completely dry before proceeding.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

                Once the surface is clean, file the tape in place to make sure you took the measurements correctly. <\/span>It is never a waste of time!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

                  Peel the backing paper off the LED strip, and peel it off as you stick it (don’t peel all the paper at once!). <\/span>Once the tape is glued on, press a finger into every gap left between the LED and the LED (CAUTION: DO NOT PRESS ON THE RESISTORS OR LEDS, JUST THE TAPE).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
