To see how bright the lamp is.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Lumen = light emission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">In simple terms, Lumens (denoted lm) are a measure of the total amount of visible light (to the human eye) from a lamp or light source.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">The higher the lumen rating, the \u201cbrighter\u201d the bulb will appear.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-53331 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/gahzly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/invsq_deg-jpg.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"530\" height=\"139\" title=\"l\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gahzly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/invsq_deg-jpg.webp 530w, https:\/\/gahzly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/invsq_deg-400x105.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 530px) 100vw, 530px\" \/><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">We&#8217;ve all purchased traditional 50-watt or 60-watt bulbs or flashlights in the past and expect a certain level of brightness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">This incorrectly correlates power consumption (watts) to light output.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-53333\" src=\"https:\/\/gahzly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/FootCandle_EN-jpg.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" title=\"l\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gahzly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/FootCandle_EN-jpg.webp 600w, https:\/\/gahzly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/FootCandle_EN-400x400.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">More light and less power (watts) with LED<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">With low power LEDs, more light output can be achieved with less power consumption.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">For example, it will give a 6.5W LED lamp<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Light output similar to a 50W halogen bulb.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">That&#8217;s 87% less energy for the same light output!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">When using an LED, more energy is converted into light rather than heat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">As technology improves, more lumens will be produced using less than a watt &#8211; i.e. more lumens per watt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">As a result, using watts as a guide to brightness is no longer appropriate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-53335\" src=\"https:\/\/gahzly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Lumens-Incandescent-Table-jpg.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"434\" title=\"l\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gahzly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Lumens-Incandescent-Table-jpg.webp 500w, https:\/\/gahzly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Lumens-Incandescent-Table-400x347.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">LED lumens<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">To achieve the same light output of a traditional 60 watt bulb, you will need an LED with about 800-850 lumens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">All integrated LED bulbs have a lumen rating clearly marked on the packaging and on the bulb base.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">We also provide a conversion guide to &#8220;old watts&#8221; On the package, for example 11.5W LED = 60W conventional.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Below is a rough guide to help you determine the lumen rating of your LED replacement bulb.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Lumens per watt (lm\/W)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">This number is a useful way to measure the effectiveness of lighting products by measuring the total light output in lumens divided by the energy use in watts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">you can think<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">This is similar to the miles per gallon in a car<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">, as higher lm\/W means higher efficiency and lower operating costs compared to similar models but<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Least efficient.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">For example, the integrated high-efficiency LED panel + backlight delivers a light output of 3,500 lumens for 23 watts of power.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">3500lm\/23W = 152lm\/W<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">In contrast, an edge-lit but less efficient LED panel may provide 3,600 lumens for 45 watts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">3600lm \/ 45W = 80lm \/ W<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">In simple terms, a 152lm\/W panel is 51% cheaper to run than an 80lm\/W panel.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">We recommend making lm\/W one of the first things you look at when choosing LED panels.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Useful lumens and lumens<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">For non-directional lamps such as globe, golf ball, or candle-shaped, the total lumen output is calculated for all directions.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">With a directional bulb such as a GU10 spotlight<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">, light is emitted in many directions, some of this light may not be (spilled light)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Useful but is calculated in the total lumen rating.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">To make comparisons fairer and easier, the European Union recently introduced a \u201cuseful lumen\u201d rating.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">This is a measurement of useful light emitted in a uniform 90 degree cone (see image).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">The &#8220;useful lumen&#8221;
