Explanation of the MCCB circuit breaker.
The MCCB is one of thetypes of electrical breakers that is used to protect the main distribution boards.
This breaker is distinguished from MCB breakers by its high rated current capacity, which reaches 1600A.
The short-circuit current reaches 85kA, which makes it suitable for medium-power distribution systems.

What is an MCCB circuit breaker?
MCCB stands for “Molded Case Circuit Breakers”, and in Arabic it is called: molded case circuit breakers.
This type comes after the MCB breakers, and is often used to protect the main supply circuits.
It is larger in size than MCB breakers, due to its ability to withstand high short-circuit currents.
It is also characterized by wide flexibility in adjusting the relationship between the disconnection time and the value of the fault current compared to an MCB breaker determined by the value.
The class of the breaker can be adjusted by adjusting the shorting amplitude and disconnection time.
The greater the shorting capacity, the more flexibility the device provides.
Here is a class of MCB breaker with a rated current capacity of 250A, which you can use in two variants:
Adjust its rated current and short circuit current.
There are breakers in other categories that can change more or fewer variables until they reach the MCB category of air breakers.

MCCB circuit breaker capacities
This type is available with rated amperage capacities starting from 16A up to 1600A, while the short circuit current of the breaker starts from 10KA up to 85KA.
Explanation of the MCCB circuit breaker
The breaker has two values:
The first is called “Frame Size Rating,” and the second is called the Trip Current. It can be set to disconnect the current if it exceeds more than the value.
For example, Schneider’s NSX630N switch has a rated current capacity of 630 amps.
But inside it 11-Electronic Circuits make it possible to set it to be able to cut off the current if it exceeds the following values:
400A | 350A | 300A | 250A | 200A | 150A |
630A | 600A | 550A | 500A | 450A |
The electrical circuit breaker control current capacities are 630A
The manufacturer places a Frame Size value on the cutter.
But on the design papers for the project, two numbers are written as follows: 630A/450A,
This means that the maximum rated current of the breaker is 630A, but in the project it will be set to 450A.
important note:
This breaker has three states for the plastic arm: connection state, trip state, and trip state.
And the final disconnection condition. In the event of a malfunction, the problem must be solved first, then move the breaker lever to the OFF position first, then raise it again to the ON position.
