A bolt-on connection is often used to connect wiring at home and in the workplace. To switch live in a junction box, this is far from the most successful option due to cumbersome connections, but in the absence of other options, you can use it. To perform the proper connection of two wires (aluminum and copper), you must have certain tools and materials. Which:

• Nut and bolt.
• Metal washers (three pieces are enough);
• A tightening tool – pliers or a wrench may be suitable for this;

1. Prepare the wire. To do this, the ends are cleaned by five centimeters. Perhaps more when connecting wires of large cross-section or when using a large diameter screw.
2. At the end of the connector you need to make a loop. Its diameter must correspond to the diameter that the bolt has (for example, 6 mm or 10 mm). But it will be very difficult to twist the exact diameter “by eye”, so it is better to do this with a self-tapping screw.
3. A metal washer is put on the screw, and after that a loop of the first wire.

Thus, when connecting an aluminum and copper core between them, a washer is obtained from the washer and a direct connection is not formed, which prevents the destruction of the conductors. When connecting two copper cores, you can do without a washer between them.
5. Next, place the third washer and tighten the nut. It is important that the hinges are curved toward the nut (clockwise), and the washers are wider than the connector space in the ring so that the rings do not loosen or tighten when tightening the rings. 6. The dead-end connection is completed by insulating the conductive part with a wide insulating tape.

If you want to connect two wires made of different materials, it is better to apply WAGO terminal blocks or bolt connection. When repairing old electrical wiring, where the wire differs from each other in material, this will be the optimal solution. If the dead-end connection is made in accordance with GOST and in compliance with all standards and requirements, no difficulties will arise. Also if it is decided to replace wiring at home, then you need to remember that twisting, according to the PUE, is prohibited, and instead it is better to use welding (this is if the material of the products is the same). If the metal is different, then, as an option, a screw and stud connection.
