Secondly, the differential machine prevents fire and electric shock caused by electricity leakage through damaged insulation of wiring line cable or defective home appliance (function of residual current device).

Device and principle of operation

The classification shows that the main structural elements of diphtheria are differential transformer (1), electromagnetic (2) and thermal emitters (3). Below is a brief description of each of the above elements.

What is defavamate and what is it used for?

A differential transformer has many windings, depending on the number of poles of the device. This element compares the load currents along the conductors and in case of their asymmetry, the so-called leakage current appears at the output of the secondary winding of the transformer. It reaches the starting body, which, without delay, carries out tripping of the power communications of the machine.

It is also worth noting the button for checking the operability of the protective device “TEST”. This button is connected in series with the resistance, which is operated either by a separate winding on the transformer or in parallel with one of the available transformers. When you press this button, the resistance creates an artificial imbalance – a differential current occurs and the differential machine should work, indicating its good condition.

Electromagnetic launch is an electromagnet with a core that operates the flight mechanism. This electromagnet turns on when the load current reaches a threshold – this usually happens when a short circuit. This release is instantaneous in milliseconds.

The thermal release protects the electrical network from overload. Structurally, it is a bimetallic plate, deformed when the load current passing through it exceeds the nominal for this unit.
When a certain position is reached, the bimetallic plate acts on the closing mechanism of the diaphragms. The release of thermal release does not occur immediately, but with a time delay.

What is defavamate and what is it used for?

The response time is directly proportional to the magnitude of the load current flowing through the differential automatic, and also depends on the ambient temperature.

On the case, the response threshold of the differential transformer is indicated – leakage current in mA, rated current of thermal release (at which infinite time operates) in A. An example of case marking is C16 A / 30 mA.

In this case, the mark “C” in front of the nominal value indicates the frequency of operation of the electromagnetic release (class of device). The letter “C” indicates that electromagnetic release will occur if the rating exceeds 16A 5-10 times.

Application area

Why use a differential machine if there are two separate protective devices (RCD and automatic), each of which performs its own function?

The main advantage of difavtomat is consolidation. It takes up less space on the DIN rail in the electrical distribution panel than if installing two separate devices. This feature is especially relevant if it is necessary to install several residual current circuit breakers and circuit breakers in the switchboard. In this case, by installing difavtomatov, it is possible to significantly save space in the switchboard, thus reducing its size.

The differential automatic machine is widely used to protect electrical wires almost everywhere, both in everyday life and in rooms of other purposes (in various institutions, in enterprises).

Difavtomat in no way differs from RCDs and similar circuit breakers in characteristics, therefore there are no restrictions in its application.
