The contactor  works mainly on the magnetic effect of the electric current, so that it uses a coil through which an electric current passes, generating a magnetic field that works to attract an iron core to which the terminals of the power circuit are connected. The contactor is mainly used in operating devices and equipment that are characterized by a high voltage difference as well as a large current when operating, such as factory machines. Air conditioning equipment, lighting and heating circuits, etc

The contactor is  one of the most important elements of automatic control, and it is very important. It is a box that contains contacts, that is, switches. Some of these contacts are used in the power circuit to deliver a high current, and some are designated for contacting the control circuit through which a small current passes.

The contactor consists of two pieces of iron, one fixed and the other moving. A coil is wrapped around the fixed piece. If electricity is connected to this coil, it will turn the fixed piece of iron into a magnet that attracts the moving piece. Communication is established between the two pieces, meaning the contactor keys are closed. Disconnecting the current from the coil, the contactor returns to its original position via a “spring” or otherwise known as a “spring” or “bucket” that pushes the moving piece upward again.
