To avoid this, a voltage relay was created that monitors the state of electrical potential in your apartment around the clock and instantly de-energizes the network in case of emergency changes.

Design features

It is made in a housing with installation under the DIN rail, for installation in the metering panel next to the circuit breakers, as can be seen in the photo below.

On the front panel there is a three-segment indicator showing the current power mode. Three regulators and three connection terminals, everything is very simple.

The connection diagram is drawn on the right side of the case, one L phase input from the circuit breaker, two N wires from the zero bus or from the second circuit breaker, depends on your shield, then zero goes from this terminal to the consumers. Structurally, the controller consists of two boards, a power unit and a controller. Almost the entire surface of the power circuit is occupied by a powerful switching relay of 40 A. Settings

Novatek-Electro manufacturers, who developed this relay, went to interview people and programmed the basic functions into this device, leaving the user with a simple choice of many options, such as:

• Automatic restart (AR) time from 5 to 900 seconds (15 minutes);
• Lower cut-off threshold (ohms) from 160 – 210 V;
• Upper cut-off threshold (Umax) from 230-280V.

Rotating the RN-104 potentiometer gives the pointer a digital representation of the parameter, which is undoubtedly convenient and requires no guesswork.

We recommend modifying the characteristics of voltage relays in this way:

• AR time 180 seconds;
• Omen 190;
• Omax 245.

In practice, there are times when the voltage almost coincides with the set threshold for a fairly long time, and in order to avoid continuous switching and turning off of the relay, a hysteresis of 4-5 V from the set value is introduced. In this case, the device automatically enters an additional threshold and does not turn on until the voltage drops below the setting by the amount of hysteresis. If this phenomenon is cyclical in nature and recurs periodically, review the parameter settings and change them.

It is worth saying separately about  the distinctive features of the  Novatek Electro RN-104 voltage control. To avoid false shutdowns during operation, intelligent network status monitoring is created. If the voltage gradually increases and exceeds the set limits, but is not higher than +30 V from the set threshold, the relay waits 1 second before closing. With a sharp jump above the set threshold of more than +60 or above 285 V, the relay is activated instantly in 0.02 seconds.

It is known that when a powerful consumer is turned on, a voltage drop occurs, it can be a refrigerator or an air conditioner. With a smooth voltage drop below the set threshold of -60 V, the device waits 7-12 seconds, which is enough to start the consumer’s engine. If If the voltage drops below 145V, the device turns off in 0.12 seconds.
