Engineering of impact-resistant industrial housings through the Ultra-Pro empty waterproof fixture (2×120 cm – IP65 – IK08)

Empty weatherproof luminaire housings are an excellent option for engineers who prefer to separate the fixture body from the light sources to simplify future maintenance and reduce operating costs. In harsh environments such as cement factories, vehicle-maintenance workshops, ports, and petrochemical facilities, luminaires face severe mechanical and environmental challenges including humidity, dense dust, and accidental impacts from tools and equipment. Here, theUltra-Pro Waterproof Fixture, 2×120 cm stands out as a protective engineering enclosure, designed with a reinforced body achieving a global protection rating ofIP65 and an exceptional impact-resistance rating ofIK08, with internal fittings for connecting and installing two standard T8 LED tubes through theGahzly.

Historically, conventional empty housings suffered from two main problems: weak internal connections and wiring that could cause electrical arcing and lamp damage, and poor-quality cover plastics that could crack after minor impacts or deteriorate from heat and ultraviolet exposure. Ultra-Pro technology addresses these issues through a high-strength reinforced polymer body and a safe internal electrical-distribution system using copper wiring with robust insulation, helping the fixture remain serviceable for many years while allowing technicians to replace only the LED tubes at the end of their service life.

The key feature of this fixture is its mechanical-resistance rating ofIK08, which physically indicates the ability to withstand a direct impact energy of up to 5 joules, comparable to a 1.7 kg mass falling from about 30 cm, without compromising the cover or allowing water ingress. This high protection level, combined with capacity for two 120 cm lamps, provides high and broad light output that supports occupational-safety requirements and illumination levels in major critical projects through theGahzly.
