Product Description

Scotch tape is a 65 mil thick, premium grade, heavy-duty adhesive tape used for insulating, lining, and sealing carrier tape and splice joints.

• It is a 60 mil thick, rubber-based insulation coated with a flexible, weather-resistant vinyl (PVC) backing.
• This protective masking tape is designed to insulate, seal moisture, and coat all joints up to 600 volts.

Scotch tape works

• To correct wear, breakage and cuts in electrical cable jackets caused by pulling, winding, and rough handling, which typically occur during transportation, installation, and use.
• When the cable jacket is damaged, the electrical system may be compromised by moisture and other contaminants.
• But in certain cases, the cable jacket does not necessarily need to be replaced, but can often be repaired with cable jacket repair tape, which can restore the protective qualities of the cable jacket many times over.

Tape for simple, essential cable jacket repairs

• This tape can be used to repair slightly damaged cable jackets or more substantial repairs where a portion of the cable jacket is missing.
• For small defects in the cable jacket, roll Scotch Cable Jacket Repair Tape over the damaged area and then apply Scotch Super 33+ Electric Vinyl Tape (sold separately) to secure the ends.
• For more significant repairs where part of the cable jacket is missing
• First apply Scotch tape, build up the splice and across the splice until it is equal to the thickness of the original cable sheath.
• Then apply scotch tape to fix the cable jacket.
• Finally, secure the ends with Scotch Vinyl Electrical Tape (sold separately).
