Rigid Metal Conduit (RMC)
RMC is a rigid steel electrical conduit designed for outdoor exposure and robust connections.
It is specially designed to protect insulated electrical conductors and cables.
Wheatland Tube’s Rigid Metal Tubing (RMC) is built for jobs that require significant protection that only thicker walls can provide.
Made of hot galvanized steel inside and out. In addition, it is easy to cut, bend and place where you want the pipe to be.
All sizes are readily available
Uses: –
- RMC is tough enough for use in outdoor applications
- Power plants and manufacturing
- and corrosive environments
RMC Channel Basics
- Coated with a hot galvanized outer layer and a special anti-corrosion coating on the inside to extend the life of the conduit.
- Common duct sizes range from 1/2 inch to 6 inches in diameter.
- Installation usually requires large pliers or pipe wrenches.
- RMC can be cut with pipe cutters or a band saw, but you must file the inner side of the pipe to remove any sharp burrs that might damage the outer coating of the wire as it is pulled through the conduit.
- Once cut, the conduit is threaded into the end of the cut, allowing the user to make whatever lengths they need.
RMC
- Its light weight
- It has a large inner diameter and varies according to the available sizes
- The inside is smoother than the tube for pulling the wires through the conduit.
- RMC’s are used in many applications, both residential and commercial.
- Used and designed for large connections
RMC Apps
- Especially used for residential wiring.
- This may include service masts, panel connections and other outdoor applications.
Don’t forget the fixtures
- RMC conduit comes in a variety of sizes to meet your conduit needs.
Features and specifications
- The conduit is precision manufactured to provide economical protection and long term value for your wiring system and electrical substations.
- Manufactured from high quality hardened steel that combines electrical and mechanical performance with ductility.
- They are impact resistant and easy to cut, bend and splice for smooth, continuous raceways.
- Strong, lightweight and low cost.
- In fact, it can save you up to 30% on overall costs.
- It is recognized as an equipment grounding conductor and also provides excellent protection from electromagnetic fields.
- Lightweight ductile steel channel for long life and easy to bend
- Hot galvanized exterior for increased corrosion resistance and white rust protection
- The inner coating creates a smooth, continuous path for fast wire drawing
- Protect computers and other sensitive electronic equipment from the effects of electromagnetic interference.
coatings
- This process combines zinc, transfer coating, and a clear organic polymer top coat to form a triple layer of corrosion and corrosion protection.
- The interior of the RMC is coated with a highly abrasion resistant lubricant for easy wire pulling.
You don’t have to worry about damage to the duct system even when pulling through multiple 90 degree bends.
It is designed with a large inner diameter for fast wire drawing and is recommended for use in hazardous locations.
