What are cable glands?

A Cable Gland is, in simple terms, a device designed to attach and secure a coil of cable to a piece of equipment or an enclosure.
They provide strain relief and may include a provision to make a connection to the shield, braid, lead or aluminum sheath of the cable.
For unarmored and braided cables, this strain relief is provided by sealing only.
For armored cables, the shield and clamps can also provide pull resistance.
